POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT

PRIVATE DOG TRAINING

LAKE JACKSON, TX

YOUR DOG IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

They Don't Know Your language yet.

The 5-Week Private Lesson Program $500 · 5 sessions · ONE dog, ONE family, ONE trainer

Most dog owners come to us after they've tried everything else. YouTube videos. Group classes. Hoping the dog would grow out of it. None of it stuck — because none of it was built around YOUR dog, in YOUR home, with YOUR life.

That's what the 5-week program is.

Five private sessions with Amy or Paddy, working through the behaviors that are making your daily life harder. No group distractions. No one-size-fits-all commands. Just the two of you, your dog, and a plan that actually fits.

Ready to stop guessing and start working?

Five weeks. One dog. One trainer.

Pulling on walks. Jumping when people arrive. Restlessness in the house. Difficulty settling in a kennel. A dog who becomes too distracted to listen.

You aren’t looking for a “perfect” dog. You want clearer communication, more dependable cooperation, and everyday skills that work in your real life. And you want clear knowledge about how to make having a dog easier.

That is what our Private Session program is designed to build—better communication with clicker precision, food rewards, empathy, and kindness.

Kazi was 8 weeks old when his dad first walked through our door — a little English Staffordshire Terrier with a big life ahead of him. His dad traveled for work, lived with roommates, cats, and young kids, and needed a dog who could handle all of it.

What followed wasn't just a 5-week program. It was years of friendship and love.

Kazi

When his dad was traveling, Kazi boarded with us. When life changed — a new kitten in the house, bigger than Kazi but not always easy to be around — they came back for extra classes.

We worked on how to be gentle with something smaller than him. How to leave the kitten alone when called. How to hold it together even when the temptation was right there.

When his dad eventually moved to another state, Kazi was ready. New city. New home. Stays with Grandma. All of it — because the foundation was there.

We miss him a lot.

This isn't just training your dog.
It's training you both.

The behaviors that stick are the ones the whole family understands. That's why these sessions are built around you learning alongside your dog — not dropping them off and hoping for the best.

By the end of five weeks, you'll know how to ask your dog for what you need. And your dog will know how to give it.

  • Short, focused positive-reinforcement training sessions.

  • Practice with everyday household routines.

  • Appropriate rest and quiet time.

  • Enrichment and activities tailored to individual needs.

  • Careful, positive exposure to new experiences.

  • Consistent communication built through clicker precision, food rewards, empathy, and kindness.

The goal is not simply to teach in a training session. It is to show your dog how rewarding more cooperative choices are throughout the day

What You Will Build with Your Dog (week by week)

Every dog begins with a different history, temperament, and set of needs. During your discovery call, we’ll discuss your goals and recommend the program that gives your dog enough time to learn successfully.

Week 1 - Behavior Builder

Attention & Recall: Everything starts here. Before your dog can learn anything, they have to be able to hear you. We teach engagement through eye contact and the nose-to-thumb touch — both are forms of recall, and recall is behavior number one. A dog that pays attention is a dog you can work with. A dog that pays attention wants to be with you.

Week 2 - Behavior Builder

Walking Without the Struggle:  We change the whole math problem. The tether method removes the leash from your dog's neck and shifts how you and your dog think about walking. We start inside — eye-contact walking, step by step — so that when you go outside, the foundation is already there. This week also begins desensitization for dogs that react to the world.

Week 3 - Behavior Builder

Stay and Placement:  A real stay isn't just "don't move." It's a behavior your dog can hold long enough for you to answer the door without chaos, or eat dinner without being circled. We start at one second and build from there. We also teach placement — your dog going away from you to a specific spot on cue — a skill that makes daily life dramatically calmer.

Week 4 - Behavior Builder

Desensitization:  This week is personal to your dog. We use the behaviors you and your dog have learned- engagement and leash walking — and introduce distractions for when you take your dog outside for a real-world test you have the tools you need so you are both successful: walking the block or staying in the spot at a cafe. Getting your dog ready for trips and more.

Week 5- Behavior Builder

Graduation:  Can your dog hop to their spot and hold a stay for a full minute? That's the benchmark. We run through everything you've built together, see where you are, and make sure you leave with the tools to keep going on your own.

I recently adopted a 7 week old Australian cattle dog puppy and she is SUPER high energy. As someone who has never had a puppy before, I was kind of at a loss of how to deal with her and her high energy. Enter Paddy and Amy with their positive reinforcement training and doggy daycare! I found them through Instagram and DM'd them right away. Paddy answered my message immediately (on a Sunday) and I was immediately sold.

Over the course of 5 weeks, Paddy and Amy taught not only Domino (my pupppy) but me some very useful tools to use to channel some of her high energy. The courses are over, but I have been taking Domino to their doggy daycare to help try and get her socialized more so she can join me on adventures. I 100% recommend Citizen Canine for all your obedience lesson and doggy daycare needs.

Belle, our golden lacy, has been a student and day care attendee for over 6 years. We adopted her from the SPCA when she was approximately 1 year old. She was roaming the streets and fending for herself for quite a while with expected behavior issues when we met her. Citizen Canine was recommended to us by members of the SPCA due to their positive methods for training all types of dogs. We have not been disapponted!!! Belle has been part of their board and train program, attends daycare several days a week for enrichment and boards with Paddy and Amy when we travel. They help my husband and I in constantly and are always available when we need them. Highest recommendation!
